It is with great pleasure to announce the 2023-2024 Central New York Chapter Scholarship award recipient as Courtney Paciello. Courtney is currently a student attending SUNY Empire State University for Environmental Science with a concentration in Conservation. She has a strong passion for the outdoors and spends her summers camping with her husband & dog. We were able to announce and present her with the award back in June at our 2023-2024 season wrap up and awards dinner. In her application titled “Our Safe Earth” Courtney captures the idea that safety is not just for the workplace, but instead it is engrained in everything we do as humans. Broadening this Idea Courtney goes onto resonate the notion that safety for the planet should be no different.
“Our Earth is unbiased. It accepts all life forms, and provides nourishment and a home
for everyone who seeks such. It’s developed a paradoxical balance of sensitive, yet resilient
ecosystems, and we compromise it. If we take advantage of this, we jeopardize the safety of what keeps us protected, and in turn, the human race and many other species experience a decline in security.” (“Our Safe Earth”)
CNYASSP is honored to award our 2023-2024 annual scholarship to Courtney as she
continues on her journey and education to promote occupational safety. This scholarship is made possible by contributions from our chapter members, proceeds from our monthly chapter meeting raffles and sponsor/member donations to our annual scholarship fund! As a reminder, our chapter offers an annual student scholarship to those majoring in a safety or safety related field.
