CNY ASSP is happy to announce the winner of the 2022 CNY ASSP Scholarship, Lexi Chipules. While the announcement was made back in June, we were only recently able to meet up with Lexi and present her with her scholarship. Which was matched by Region VIII of ASSP!
Lexi was a student at SUNY ESF completing a dual major in Construction Management and Sustainable Energy Management with a minor in Economics.
Lexi developed her safety skills during a recent internship with Ramboll as a Construction Manager intern. During the internship her responsibilities include investigating site conditions, creating site safety plans, monitoring PPE usage, conducting safety presentations. as well as monitoring and recording safety conditions.
She is also a student leader within her school and served two terms as the ESF Undergraduate Student Association as President. Her willingness to volunteer as a student leader speaks to a strong character that is willing to take on the additional responsibilities of being a leader and taking initiative.
Lexi’s introduction to safety started at a young age as she is able remembered playing with her father’s safety PPE like hard hats and safety glasses. As she grew the importance of safety was instilled in her she decided to focus her education on a combination of construction and safety.
For these reasons, CNY ASSP is honored to award our 2021-2022 annual scholarship to Lexi as well as have her award be matched by the Region VIII of ASSP; to continue her journey and education to promote occupational safety.
This scholarship is made possible by contributions from our chapter members, proceeds from our monthly chapter meeting raffles and Starr Safety’s donation to our annual scholarship fund! As a reminder, our chapter offers an annual student scholarship to those majoring in a safety or safety related field.
